Gary Avery, LPTA brings a unique perspective to the #teamRestore recruiting role. Gary has served Restore as a  Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant, a Rehab Director, and as Clinic Manager and Area Director of Outpatient Services.

As a Rehab Director and Clinic Manager, Gary has observed the staffing needs in the rehabilitation industry for many years.  As a recruiter, his goal is to educate incoming therapists of the joys of long term care, to promote the benefits of working for Restore as a leader in long term care, and to give our patients/residents the best clinicians the industry has to offer.

“I have always enjoyed the recruiting aspect of our industry because of my success and enjoyment as an LPTA.”

What prompted you to choose Physical Therapy as a career?

I left my first career as an auto body-refinishing technician to pursue something in the medical field.  I had an interest in sports medicine and a friend suggested physical therapy.  I began to pursue a degree in biology to apply to PT school, but after some life changing situations I decided on PTA  school. During a clinical rotation at a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) while in school, I decided long term care was my calling.

Restore supports many career paths for our clinicians. Tell us about your Pathway to Success within Restore.

My first position with Restore was as a Rehab Director at Northway Health and Rehab.  Next, I served as the Rehab Director at Mt. Royal Towers which included an Outpatient (OP) Clinic in their Independent Living and Assisted Living Facilities (ILF/ALF).

At this time, Restore was expanding our OP program into several other area ILF/ALFs. I eventually left the SNF arena to concentrate on the OP side of Restore.  I had the privilege of serving as a Clinic Manager and our Area Director of OP Services for several years.

We are excited to have Gary on board as our new recruiter! Gary’s 13 years at Restore, through his roles as LPTA within our SNFs, to his leadership roles with Outpatient, make him ideal for finding the best talent for helping our patients live their fullest lives!
