Lisa Stewart, OTR/L Regional Director of Clinical Services for Restore Therapy, was selected as an Emerging Leader for ADVION 2023. ADVION is a national trade association representing providers of ancillary services to the long term and post-acute care (LTPAC) settings. This leadership program offers resources and opportunities to learn more about the benefits of contributing to public policy initiatives and learning how to be an effective advocate.
As part of the kick off for the year long program, Lisa was able to attend meetings in Washington, DC that included speakers such as John Kane, Acting Deputy Director of the Division of Institutional Post-Acute Care & SNF TEAM Leader and CMS on topics critical to the services provided by therapists working in the post-acute care sector. She was also able to have discussions with ADVION mentors in preparation for “Hill Day”, which was an opportunity to advocate on Capitol Hill with Senators and Congressmen and included topics such as stopping additional therapy payment cuts, permanent expansion of telehealth services for medicare beneficiaries and health IT and interoperability opportunities for long term care providers.
