WHY SHOULD I WORK IN A GERIATRIC SETTING?

According to the Administration for Community Living, there are more than 44 million people over age 65 living in the United States and by 2040, that will account for a fifth of the U.S. population. According to the Centers for Disease Control and prevention, over 1.4 million older adults reside in nursing homes, with that number growing every day. There are a number of valuable clinical challenges and learning opportunities in working with the older adult. Patients are often medically complex and this encourages analytical and critical thinking.

What is Restore U?

At Restore, we believe learning is an essential part of our culture and of one’s personal and professional growth and development.  We look at the continuum of learning as starting when students visit us for clinical rotations or observations, through an employee’s first year of employment with mentoring and CEU programs, up through their development into leaders and experienced clinicians.  Restore U covers that continuum and serves as our educational development hub for students and our employees.

Restore is proud to partner with a number of college and university therapy programs to provide clinical rotations to provide students with an opportunity to appreciate our setting and see the valuable opportunities that exist for professional and clinical growth. We also provide a structured curriculum of educational opportunities through our employees’ tenure with us designed to address a wide area of subjects, both clinical and non-clinical.
